Digital Citizenship

The King City Arts Magnet School is proud that every student from Kindergarten through 5th grade has access to a computer. With access, however, comes responsibility, and as a staff, we believe that it is our duty to help turn all of our students into great digital citizens, able to safely navigate the digital world which they are a part of.
Below is a list of resources, that we use to teach our students about digital citizenship; it is our hope that the resources and websites may also be beneficial to the King City Arts Magnet's families, and help you join in our crusade to keep everyone safe in the digital environment.

Common Sense Media, located at Commonsensemedia.org is an amazing website that gives parents and students a wealth of information and resources they can use.
Magnet School's Recommendation: Use everything that this site has to offer!

StaySafeOnline, located at staysafeonline.org, is another great website filled with resource for parents and students.
Magnet School's Recommendation: Check out the "Raising Digital Citizens" and "Cyberbullying and Harassment" links and discuss them with your children.

Edutopia, located at edutopia.org, is a K-12 focused website, that has both great videos and resources.
Magnet School's Recommendation: Digital Citizenship: Resource Roundup is a great article that contains many useful links about Digital Citizenship. There is even a great Ted Talk video entitled "Connected, but alone?" by Sherry Turkle that we highly recommend.

CyberWise, located at cyberwise.org, is a website that is great for parents to learn about many topics related to Digital Citizenship.
Magnet School's Recommendation: Click on the "Parents Enter Here" link at the top of the page, and watch the video "PARENTS, YOUR GUIDE TO CYBERWISE" to get started.
