Life Lab 2012-2013: The Beginning of Something Great
This Life Lab Garden Program brings learning to life in the garden where teachers, parents, children and community members see this project as an opportunity to teach our students to care for themselves, each other and the world. It is also transforming a vacant lot in the neighborhood into a center of positive community activity.
The Life Lab Garden Program is also partnering with Fiestabetes, a local non-profit, educational, bilingual program teaching adults and children how to prevent and treat diabetes, hypertension and obesity through hands-on cooking, exercise and nutrition classes.
The garden project has been a volunteer work in progress where we have broken ground and are ready to grow!
One of our garden goals is to have each class have their own raised garden bed where the teachers can expand their curriculum in a hands-on outdoor venue. Click on the individual grade level links to see what each grade level is doing throughout the year!
