Each month we randomly select a staff member to spotlight. This month, the spotlight is on Mrs. Susan Glau, one of our TK teachers. Mrs. Glau has an amazing early childhood education background which makes her wonderfully qualified to be a TK teacher. She taught in eight preschools and served as director for two of those centers. She also ran a small home daycare called Suzy's Zoo. She joined KCUSD eleven years ago, and this is her second year teaching TK. She holds an Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Child and Family Development, and a Master of Arts in Education. Her family includes her husband of 43 years and four grown children, Sarah, Raychel, Matthew, and Elizabeth. She also has two sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law and TEN grandchildren! When she's not at school, she loves participating in hobbies! She spins yarn, knits, sews, gardens, makes jewelry, raises chickens (!), bakes, and cooks. But her favorite pastime is playing with her grandchildren. As a child, Mrs. Glau was told that she could never run because of a medical condition she was born with...but she proved everyone wrong. She not only runs, she has completed four full marathons and about twenty-three half marathons! Her message to everyone, big and small, is this: don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't do something. She regularly reminds her TK students that they can do hard things!
